Greene County Narcotic K9 ‘Ranger’ joined Guthrie County’s “Raven’ in an unannounced drug search at the Coon Rapids-Bayard High School last Thursday morning.
The good news is no drugs were found, according to High School Principal Shawn Zanders, who said he contacted Coon Rapids Police Chief Joel Roetman to set up the search.
There was no incident or suspicion that led the school to request a drug search other than it’s been several years since one has been conducted.
Greene County Deputy Jack Williams and Guthrie County Deputy Jesse Swenson participated in the search, which included searches of student lockers, locker rooms, and parking lot. Students were not allowed to leave their classrooms or the buildings while the dogs roamed the hallways.
