Parkview almost a full house

• Assisted living facility filling beds fast
In the past two months, the number of residents living in the Parkview Assisted Living has doubled, bringing the tenant list to ten.
“It’s been such a growing process through the whole thing,” said Diane Hyland, Nurse Manager at Park View.
The facility opened on September 3, 2008 and has filled all but two apartments since then. Currently a one-bedroom apartment and a two-bedroom apartment are available.
Judging by the smiles on the faces of the residents, things are going well. The facility, which offers on-site staff during the hours of 8 a.m.-8:30 p.m. and over night checks by the attached Thomas Rest Haven staff, has gotten rave reviews from its residents.
“Coon Rapids should be proud of what they have built for their residents,” Hyland said.
On an average morning, many of the residents can be found gathered around a table chatting over coffee mugs. Relaxation is a big part of living at the Parkview facility, but residents are still active and a part of the community, Hyland said.
“Our tenants are more independent, so they come and go a lot. There’s a lot of family involvement,” she said.
On occasion, community organizations, including the Garden Club and the Heritage Club, have come into Parkview for a meeting. When they do, the residents often get to take part in the meetings.
“I’d really like to have some volunteers come down and, especially when the weather gets nice, take our tenants for walks,” Hyland said.
The ten residents are Norma Laughery, Ada Huffaker, Jean Stenstrom, Tina Van Dyke, Glenna Heiderscheit, Leonard Ramsey, Don Stiles, Mary Schwenk, Clara Lyons and Bobbi Linn.
