FROM THE READING THE ENTERPRISE IN FARAWAY PLACES GALLERY Fultons visit the Grand Canyon Skywalk
While visiting her parents in Las Vegas, NV. last week, Karla and Dick Fulton of Carroll embarked on a 121 mile road trip from the Entertainment Capital of the World to see the region’s newest tourism attraction. Built by the Hualapai Indian Tribe, the Grand Canyon Skywalk is shaped like a horseshoe and extends over the Canyon at Eagle Point, located on the very edge of the Grand Canyon’s west rim near Grand Canyon West, Arizona. It’s literally a glass bridge that allows spectators a straight down look to the Colorado River 4000 feet below. The $31 million attraction hasn’t been without controversy, much of it concerning the $75 per person package admission. The Fultons said they too, were mildly annoyed with the high price tag, but they enjoyed the experience and took advantage by having their photo taken with their hometown newspaper. They joined more than 200,000 visitors who have toured the attraction since it opened in March 2007.
